Music - Mrs. Morales

Welcome to the Music Program at de Chantal.

In the music class, students will be instructed in the following areas: skills and techniques, creation and communication, cultural and historical connections, aesthetic and critical analysis, and application to life. In addition, students will be exposed to different elements such as: expression, rhythm, form, melody, timbre, and texture/harmony.

To keep the class stimulating, students will engage in various activities to enhance learning. Some of these may include movement, playing different instruments, reading music, singing songs in foreign languages, creating their own compositions, and listening to a wide variety of musical styles. We will focus on specific cultures, and learn dances, songs, language and instruments relevant to each. We will also connect these activities to disciplines like science, language arts, mathematics, related arts, social studies, and religion.

Our sixth graders will have the opportunity to prepare for and perform in the annual 6th grade musical. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to discover and express their hidden talents.

This year I am going to ask students from 4th to 8th grade to bring a folder to music labeled with his/her name and with paper inside. This will be used for note taking and recording assignments.
