Social Justice

In preparation for Thanksgiving, St. Jane de Chantal students contribute to the Assumption Parish Outreach Program by providing food items.  Each grade is given specific items to bring in to school. Parents are invited to assist us by delivering the collected food boxes.

At Christmas time, PROJECT SHOEBOX provides each student the opportunity to reach out and help the homeless by filling a shoebox with personal items for either a man,  woman or child. Items suggested are personal care toiletries, socks, gloves, hat and scarf. The shoeboxes are wrapped as Christmas gifts and delivered to SOME (So Others May Eat) for distribution.

The students are involved in filling Easter baskets for the elderly, handicapped shut-ins, and men, women and children who come to the Missionaries of Charity.

St. Jane de Chantal’s “Pennies from Heaven” project involves collecting money to help children in other countries with facial defects or facial deformities receive surgical care and reconstructive surgery.  De Chantal students have collected enough money to bring smiles to over 33 children in over nine years. Matching gifts brings the total to 105 smiles.

St. Jane de Chantal students also take part in walks for cancer, the homeless, Mary’s House and diabetes.  De Chantal involvement in projects continues to grow when specific needs arise and we, as a community, can help.
