February 10th-February 13th

ITS 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL!!!!! We are definitely 100 days smarter!!!  Can you believe it?!! It has flown by.  Today on Monday we will be celebrating everything 100.  This is a short week, and we will be focusing on Valentine's Day.  Next week we will resume with our letters and focus on the letter "S".

The weather has really changed over the past few days.  Please have your children dress warmly with hats. gloves, and jackets all labeled.  We like to take the children outside even when it is cold out and its very important that they are dressed appropriately.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.  Our number priority is your children's happiness and we want our classroom to always make them feel safe, happy and to have fun learning.

All about the Letter Q!!! We will be reading "A Quiet Night In","Giggle, Giggle, Quack", "The Queens Hat" and "How Quail Earned his Topknot". The children will be creating the Letter Q with q-tips, Queens and Quacks in our Art Center.  We will be introducing subtraction, painting numbers, making a queen of ten and continue doing patterns in our Math Center.  Our Writing Center will be put to good use with learning how to write the Letter Q and reviewing the letter P, and all the letters we have done in the past.  They will color, cut and staple after reading our Letter Q book.  They will also write in their journals "if I were Queen or King of the world, I would.....  We will be putting together a Quail booklet and our letter Q book in our Reading Center.  In Religion we will continue to learning the sign of the cross and practice our prayers too.  The lesson of Jesus teaches about prayer will be taught. In Science the children will be learning about Quails.  They will watch a short clip about Quails and how they fly.

****Important  Reminders****

- Please pack your child a snack, drink, trash bag (small newspaper bags work well), and a wash-cloth to use as a place mat EVERYDAY- even half days.

 - We are a nut-free classroom. Please do not send your child with items that contain nuts or are processed in a factory with nuts for morning snack. All birthday treats must be nut free and not processed in a factory with nuts.

- If you are sending your child to extended day, please remember to fill out the form located online:

- Important papers will typically be sent home in your child's red folders.  Please empty the folder before sending back to school the next day.

- Please practice self-help skills with your children (opening lunch containers, zipping backpacks and lunch boxes, tying shoes, buttoning clothing items). These are skills used in the classroom daily.

- If there is any change in your child's dismissal routine (i.e. going home early, or being picked up by someone else, etc) you must send a note in that morning.  Please do not email us with time sensitive dismissal info because I may not get it in time for dismissal.

- Don’t forget to label everything your child brings or wears to school, we have many children all wearing the same thing, it is hard to trace clothing and lunch boxes back to their owners!

- When sending money in to school please place in sealed envelope and label the outside with a To: and From: as well as what it is for.

Here are the guidelines for when your child becomes sick:

  • Children have to be without a fever for 24 hours without Tylenol &/or Ibuprofen before returning to school
  • Children have to stay home for at least 24 hours after final episode of vomiting
  • If you ever have a sick child, please let Kathy Hayzlett, our school nurse, know  or 301-564-0125
