Weekly Schedule

Religion:  We continue to practice the Sign of the Cross. We pray daily, many times a day, but we always begin Religion class with three special prayers: the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. We will practice saying these daily, and hopefully they will know them all by the end of the year. This week the children will be reviewing what a promise is and learning about Abraham and his son Isaac.

Science/Social Studies:  We are reviewing our word Cooperation.  The children are learning how to working together makes a difference in a class.  In science the children will be learning about Gravity and make predictions on what item willful faster.

Letter of the Week: This week we will introduce and learn the Letter G.  We will be implementing this letter in everything we do.  We will reading books about ghosts, goats, gumboils and giraffes.   We will be cutting, coloring and making our Letter G books and most importantly practicing on how to write the letter G, which can hard.  The children will be learning patterns and working on measurement.  Our classroom looks like a Haunted Halloween classroom!

We are looking forward to our Pumpkin Patch field trip this Thursday, October 18th.  Please send in permission slip/money ASAP.

This Friday is our cooking activity and we will be doing a pumpkin treat since we went on the field trip the day before.  We will read the book "Spookley the Square Pumpkin".

This a full week of school. No early dismissal this week.

 Important Dates:

October 18th Field Trip to Pumpkin Patch

October 20th CornHole

October 26th Noon Dismissal, Halloween Party

****Important  Reminders****

- Please pack your child a snack, drink, trash bag (small newspaper bags work well), and a wash-cloth to use as a place mat EVERYDAY- even half days.

 - We are a nut-free classroom. Please do not send your child with items that contain nuts or are processed in a factory with nuts for morning snack. All birthday treats must be nut free and not processed in a factory with nuts.

- If you are sending your child to extended day, please remember to fill out the form located online:

http://www.dechantal.org/campus-life/extended-day-program/

- Important papers will typically be sent home in your child's red folders.  Please empty the folder before sending back to school the next day.

- Please practice self-help skills with your children (opening lunch containers, zipping backpacks and lunch boxes, tying shoes, buttoning clothing items). These are skills used in the classroom daily.

- If there is any change in your child's dismissal routine (i.e. going home early, or being picked up by someone else, etc) you must send a note in that morning.  Please do not email us with time sensitive dismissal info because I may not get it in time for dismissal.

- Don’t forget to label everything your child brings or wears to school, we have many children all wearing the same thing, it is hard to trace clothing and lunch boxes back to their owners!

- When sending money in to school please place in sealed envelope and label the outside with a To: and From: as well as what it is for.

Here are the guidelines for when your child becomes sick:

  • Children have to be without a fever for 24 hours without Tylenol &/or Ibuprofen before returning to school
  • Children have to stay home for at least 24 hours after final episode of vomiting
  • If you ever have a sick child, please let Kathy Hayzlett, our school nurse, know  or 301-564-0125
