A. De Chantal is a K-8 coed school with over 500 students. There are 2 classes per grade in K-8, averaging 28 students per class. Aides assist the classroom teacher in grades K-2.

A. School doors open at 7:45 am. Dismissal is at 3:00 pm on full days and at 12 NOON on early dismissal days.

A. Carpools and walking are the general means of transportation to/from school as there is no private bus service. Bicycles are not allowed. Public transportation via Metrobus and Ride-On Rt 30 is available directly in front of the school.
Q. Do you have to be a Catholic or a parishioner of St. Jane de Chantal to attend the school?
A. De Chantal welcomes children of all religious backgrounds as well as out of parish; however, siblings and parishioners receive priority in admittance to the school. Admissions Criteria.

A. Yes, students wear a uniform. Uniform guidelines.
Q. Does De Chantal offer a hot lunch program?
A. Hot lunch is offered several days a week for an additional cost. The menu consists of different lunches for each of the days which are served bi-weekly on a rotating basis.
Q. What resources/supports are available for students?
A. There is a resource program in place for students with specified needs as well Skybox, an enrichment program, and a school nurse. A school psychologist is available by consult.
Q. What specials does De Chantal offer as part of their regular curriculum?
A. Art, Computers, Library, & Music classes are scheduled once a week for all the students. Physical Education is scheduled once a week for grades K-4 and twice a week for grades 5-8. Grades 7 & 8 take Spanish classes daily and grade 6 takes Spanish twice a week.
Q. What after-school programs/activities does De Chantal offer?
A. Choir and Chimes are offered. CYO Sports, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Brownies are also available. Band lessons (grades 4-8) are offered during the school day and the Advanced Band (grades 5-8) meets on Wednesday afternoon. Piano lessons are available with limited space.

A. Students in grades 2-8 participate standarized testing administered by the Archdiocesan and conducted at the school.
Q. What sports activities are offered to students?
A. De Chantal Parish CYO (Catholic Youth Organization)sponsors a variety of sports for grades 1-8.
Q. Does your school have a band program? What grades? Is it during or after school?
A. De Chantal offers a band program with instrument lessons to grades 4-8 during the school day. The Advanced Band rehearsal is on Wednesday afternoons 3:00 to 4:00 in the De Chantal Room
Q. How does De Chantal emphasize student/community faith formation?
A. The school community begins each morning and ends each afternoon in prayer. School-wide Masses are attended periodically throughout the year. Individual classes also attend Mass biweekly. The students are given the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of their Advent and Lenten preparations for Christmas and Easter. During Lent, Stations of the Cross and Live Rosaries are conducted by the students. Social Justice is part of the Religion Curriculum. As such de Chantal students participate in a Thanksgiving Food Drive, Project ShoeBox for SOME, Operation Smile, a Walk for the Homeless, collections for Little Sisters of the Poor and many more community outreach efforts.

A. Upper level students are grouped by ability in mathematics.

A. 100% of de Chantal students qualify for admission to a Catholic high school. 99% of the students will attend.
